1794 Liberty Cap Large Cent 1C NGC POOR 1 BN – Lowball

This date encompasses three different bust types: The Head of 93 by Joseph Wright, the Head of 94 by Robert Scot, and the Head of 95, attributed somewhat uncertainly to John Smith Gardner. Head of 93 cents were carryovers from the bust utilized for the final issues of 1793, and all 1794-dated cents of this subtype are scarce to rare. Dozens of die marriage are known for the bold Head of 94 issue. The Head of 95 continued into 1795-96 and is in markedly lower relief, probably to reduce the failure rate of dies.
